On site
We hope that you will enjoy exploring Brownscombe while you stay with us. You can meet the animals, collect the eggs or simply roam freely amidst the wild buttercup meadows and spot the wildlife.
Wellness Room
We have designed the room to be a relaxing space perfect for treatments for couples or individuals. There are also free weights, resistance bands and yoga mats. Please book treatments well in advance to avoid disappointment!
Larder Shop
Our honesty shop offers gifts, West Country snacks and produce and some lovely homewares that you will find in your accommodation, including local sheepskin rugs from Dartmoor.
Brownscombe farm animals
Your children will love farmer’s rounds, collecting eggs and helping Kate to feed our friendly farm animals. “I really enjoyed helping out with the animals – pigs, ducks and chickens, Oink, Quack, Cluck!” Michael, year 5. We do “farmers rounds” for half an hour every morning starting at 8.30 mid week and 9am at the weekends and your children will get to choose a day on arrival and we can guarantee at least one Rounds per family and twice if they are here for a week. Farmer’s rounds run from 1st April to 1st October every year.
Den area
There’s a play area hidden under the Ash trees at the bottom of the meadow, with rope swings. They will feel totally hidden but all safari tents have a clear view of them from your deck.
Football / cricket / rounders / frisby pitch
Watch from your deck or join in the fun! The good news is that after running around with new found friends, they should sleep really well!
Games room
On rainy days there’s always the games room to fall back on, where table tennis, pool and table football will keep guests of all ages occupied.
Orchard
The perfect enclosed space to let your dog run off the lead with out the temptation of chicken-chasing – there is a bench and a dog bin. Dogs should be on the lead in the rest of the site, as we often have children staying that can be nervous about dogs.
Local wildlife
If you get up early, you might catch a glimpse of the barn owl . In fact, the wildlife here is amazing: rabbits, hedgehogs, greater horseshoe bats and many types of wild bird, including the rare cirl bunting and nesting kestrels. At night, drift off to sleep listening to the Tawny owls.
The site is car-free for total tranquillity, so once you’ve unloaded , park the car in our car park and the children can roam free! Tabernacle and Cabin guests are situated further away, so have their own parking spot nearer their accommodation.
