Glamping for families

Enjoy a magical family holiday at Brownscombe staying in one of our Safari Tents or in our secluded Cabin. Grown-ups can sit back and enjoy the stunning views while children run wild and free. It’s the perfect place for a family holiday you won’t forget and will want to revisit for many years to come.

This is the type of holiday that childhood memories are made of and your attention to detail and comfy beds have made it perfect for us too!

A magical wonderland for children of all ages

A secret woodland play area, a meadow to race around in, friendly farm animals to feed, scooters and bikes to borrow… at Brownscombe your children can really experience the freedom of country living within the safe confines of the (car-free) Brownscombe site. They’ll make friends with other children and be off playing all day if you let them. There’s also a fully kitted out games room for rainy days.

All set up for families

From high chairs to toiletries, we’ve thought of everything you might need, meaning you don’t have to lug it all with you. Our Safari Tents come fully kitted out with pots and pans and enough crockery and cutlery for a family of six, and the Cabin and Roundhouse for a family of four. Enjoy the tranquillity and proximity to nature that comes with staying under canvas, without any of the stress that normally accompanies a family camping trip.

This has been all the good bits of camping! Lots of fresh air, space for the kids to roam, eating outside, without any of the bad bits like a lumpy airbed and no loo etc! Hot shower, cosy wood burner, plug sockets and extremely comfy beds have made this feel like a proper holiday, not to mention the luxury of the hot tub and the delicious food.

Farmer’s rounds every morning

Brownscombe has always been a farm, and still keeps a menagerie of animals who need feeding and looking after every day. Regular visitors to Brownscombe will know all about Kate’s morning farmer’s rounds, much loved by the children who skip alongside her, taking turns to walk Molly the Labrador and Margot the Pug and helping to feed the guinea pigs, chickens, ducks, sheep and pigs and collect all the eggs. Loved even more by the grateful parents who get an extra half an hour in bed while the children are entertained. Find out more about the farm…

The boys loved feeding the animals every morning, Duck Vadar and Princess egglayer were personal favourites. The view from the bed was gorgeous. I spent hours watching the pheasants. We were even lucky enough to spot a few rabbits and a fox. The site was great for the boys, who enjoyed being free range!

A chance to unplug and reconnect as a family

We do provide plug sockets to charge phones and there is wifi in the carpark, but you’ll find the natural wonderland of Brownscombe subtly encourages downtime from screens as there’s so much to do and see here. Families tell us they find it really refreshing to be able to spend time together playing old fashioned games, toasting marshmallows around the fire pit, or splashing about in our family sized hot tubs. Brownscombe is also the perfect basecamp for a long list of exhilarating adventures you can do as a family. Read more about things to do in the area…
