Accessibility & inclusivity

At Brownscombe, we encourage and welcome everyone to enjoy time here connecting with nature and enjoying our facilities. Our goal is to create an experience that is accessible for people of all needs and abilities.

For wheelchair users and those with limited mobility

When booking accommodation please call the office to determine suitability for your particular needs. We have Brownscombe Cabin and Yealm Safari Tent that have the following features that our other accommodation lacks (due to being on a hillside);

  • Parking outside the accommodation and easy flat access
  • Flat BBQ area outside
  • Accommodation all on one level
  • The accommodation is accessed by 2 steps, we can supply a ramp for wheelchair users (please request when booking)
  • Grab rail next to the loo
  • Shower / bath seat (please request when booking)

More information about Yealm Safari Tents dimensions can be found here https://www.accessibilityguides.org/content/brownscombe-luxury-glamping.

We can also adapt Farmers’ rounds for young wheelchair users.

For children on the autistic spectrum

We have a very neuro-diverse extended family ourselves and would encourage you to call Kate to discuss your specific needs. The Cabin is very popular as it is at the far end of the site with no people walking past and has beautiful views up the valley. We can also arrange private farmers’ rounds at more quiet times of the day. We have had some lovely experiences where all the children are playing together in the summer, being inclusive and welcoming, which has brought some lovely respite to the parents too.

Assistance dogs

Dogs are very welcome in our Tents and Cabin – we usually charge a £30 additional dog cleaning fee but assistance dogs are able to stay free of charge. Please call the office before booking to ensure you are not charged.

If you require any additional help please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
