Group stays at Brownscombe Spring and Autumn 2024

Are you planning a weekend away with extended family to celebrate a wedding anniversary or a milestone birthday with friends, wanting a hen weekend that feels more like a spa break, or are you looking for a venue to host your yoga retreat? We can help you put together plans for multi – generation celebrations, and other memorable get-togethers. Tell us what you’re thinking and we’ll assemble a package just for you, from catered meals in our lodge, to spa days, craft workshops, pizza and prosecco nights and downtime in the hot tubs. 

We have noise constraints at night, as we are at the edge of a village, so we can only accept adult only get togethers if the evenings are spent in our soundproof Lodge, where you can let your hair down. We are fully booked in the school holidays so there is only availability for group bookings outside of these busy dates.

Here’s an idea of what’s on offer:

Whole site: Sleeping maximum 24 adults and up to 6 children in their own beds

This package is perfect for larger celebrations or retreats but needs to be booked up at least a year in advance to guarantee dates. Each of our luxurious tents can comfortably sleep four adults in their own beds, or up to 6 if there are children in the party. Our Roundhouse and Cabin can sleep 2 adults each and up to 2 children and the Tabernacle is perfect for a couple.

The package includes:

  • Two nights accommodation arriving Friday from 4pm and late check out on Sunday at 1pm
  • Sole use of our Pizza Barn and soundproof Lodge room for your entire weekend.
  • Private use of 7 hot tubs including 3 electric tubs with room for 5-6 guests in each at a time.
  • All bedding and towels provided (beds are made up).
  • A welcome hamper in each accommodation which includes all the essentials: milk, tea, coffee, biscuits, crisps, hot chocolate and marshmallows to toast on the fire pit.
  • Prosecco reception on Saturday night (7 bottles provided)
  • The option to preorder additional food hampers and catered meals in the Brownsombe Lodge and barn.

Spring 2024 price is £195 / head for accommodation only, based on maximum occupancy of 24 Adults (£4,680 total)

Retreats: Safari tent package for 12 – 16 adults

This package is perfect for a yoga or similar retreat where there is one organiser wanting a beautiful place to bring their clients.

The package includes:

  • Two nights accommodation in 4 luxury Safari Tents, arriving Friday from 4pm and late check out on Sunday at 1pm
  • Sole use of our stunning soundproof Lodge room for your entire weekend
  • Private use of three electric hot tubs (located outside Dart, Tamar and Yealm) with room for 5-6 guests in each at a time.
  • All bedding and towels provided (beds are made up).
  • A welcome hamper in each safari tent which includes all the essentials: milk, tea, coffee, crisps, biscuits, hot chocolate and marshmallows to toast on the fire pit.
  • Prosecco reception on Saturday night (4 bottles provided)
  • The option to preorder additional food hampers and catered meals in the Brownscombe Lodge and barn.
  • A separate ensuite bedroom in our house for the organiser should it be required free of charge

Accommodation only for 16 guests from £180 / head or from £190 / head for 12 guests. Catered weekends from £225 per head for a two night stay leaving Sunday lunchtime with two breakfasts, two evening meals and Saturday lunch

Amy September hen weekend

Catered Wellness Breaks with friends (£225* / head for 2 nights for 4 guests)

Available in our Safari Tents outside of school holidays and perfect for 3/4 friends looking to catch up, relax and enjoy time together. Fully catered, so just turn up with a suitcase!

Friday:

  • Arrival from 3 pm by car to Brownscombe or train to Newton Abbot (2hr 40 from London or 1hr 20 from Bristol) 15-minute transfer
  • Settle into your Safari Tent and try out your electric hot tub
  • Delicious supper of campfire curry, cassoulet or beef casserole in your Safari Tent (other options available Vegan, GF,DF) with Salcombe Dairy ice cream

Saturday:

  • Optional Farmer’s rounds (feeding the piglets and collecting eggs)
  • Collect your brunch of sausages, bacon, eggs and beans to cook in your tent (vegan and vegetarian option available)
  • Treatments available (as an extra on own account)
  • Lunch of home made soup, Demi baguettes, local cheese and chutney and cream tea
  • Walk in National Trust fields with beautiful views or play board games in our Lodge. We can help you to arrange Paddle boarding in Torbay .
  • Pizza and Prosecco evening in the Barn – cook your own in our wood-fired pizza oven and enjoy a bottle of prosecco (1 bottle / tent)
  • Star gaze from the hot tub

Sunday:

  • Breakfast of granola, yoghurt and berries with Demi baguette and orange juice to pick up from the barn
  • Aqua aerobics in the pool followed by a swim and then return to the hot tub
  • Local pub for lunch (own account)
  • Return to Newton Abbot to catch your train or if you have your own transport explore nearby beaches or Dartmoor

WEEKEND HAMPERS

Listed below are our most popular options and all of the below can be adapted for vegetarians, vegans, gluten and dairy free and those with specific allergies or intolerances.

Hamper 1: £45 per head Joint evening meals with breakfast in your tents

  • Friday evening meal: We’ll serve you up a hot evening meal of Cassoulet or beef casserole in our Barn or Vegan cauliflower and chickpea curry with rice with Eton mess. All set up, clearing away and washing up will be completely taken care of for you.
  • Saturday brunch: A hamper of Brownscombe bacon, eggs, sausages (vegan or pork), tomatoes and baked beans for you to cook up a storm (collected from the barn on trays to take to your accommodation).
  • Saturday evening: Enjoy a prosecco welcome drink in the barn and an evening cooking your own pizzas followed by chocolate brownies and clotted cream. Learn how to roll and spin your pizza dough like a professional then add your toppings (choose from home made tomato sauce, black olives, pepperoni, dried ham, mushrooms, buffalo mozzarella, grated mozzarella, fresh basil) then retire to the Lodge to carry on the party. All set up, clearing away and washing up will be completely taken care of for you.
  • Sunday Breakfast: of granola, yoghurt and berries with Demi baguettes, jam and orange juice (collected from the barn on trays to take to your accommodation to eat)

Hamper 2: £55 per head Fully catered communal dining in our Barn

  • Friday evening meal: We’ll serve you up a hot evening meal of Cassoulet or beef casserole in our Barn or Vegan cauliflower and chickpea curry with rice with Eton mess. All set up, clearing away and washing up will be completely taken care of for you.
  • Saturday brunch: Cooked for you and all laid out in the barn a feast of Brownscombe sausages (vegan or pork), scrambled eggs, mushrooms and baked beans with Demi baguettes, jams and tea, coffee and orange juice.
  • Cream Tea: set out for you in the barn
  • Saturday evening: Enjoy a prosecco welcome drink in the barn and an evening cooking your own pizzas followed by chocolate brownies and clotted cream. Learn how to roll and spin your pizza dough like a professional then add your toppings (choose from home made tomato sauce, black olives, pepperoni, dried ham, mushrooms, buffalo mozzarella, grated mozzarella, fresh basil) then retire to the Lodge to carry on the party. All set up, clearing away and washing up will be completely taken care of for you.
  • Sunday Breakfast: of granola, yoghurt and berries with bagels to toast, jams and tea, coffee and orange juice

Craft sessions: from £40 per head

Craft sessions take place in our lodge and are the perfect way to spend a Saturday afternoon. Options include:

  • Floral head crown workshop: With a selection of beautiful seasonal flowers. and roses and gorgeous ribbons or twisted ivy; you will learn the skills and techniques of making a natural, wild and rustic headband.
  • Bake off: We can arrange for you to decorate a number of cupcakes using different techniques and award a prize for the winner.

Make your own fun 

Alternatively why not make your own fun for free. Here are some examples of what other groups have done:

  • Scavenger hunts
  • Sports days on our playing field, we can provide woggles, rounders kit, and egg and spoon!
  • Rainy day alternative; ping pong tournament in the games room and skittles in the barn
  • Cocktail making in the Brownscombe Lodge as DIY or we can hire bar staff at cost for you.
