HOW TO ORDER

You can preorder any of the hampers or extras listed in advance of your stay. Just choose from the list and there’ll be an option to add it to your order when you book to stay with us.

Alternatively you’ll also be able to order during your stay, using the order form you’ll find in your welcome pack. Orders placed before 7pm each day will be available to collect from the Larder shop the following morning for breakfast, or from 6.30pm for supper. Please let us know if you have any food allergies or intolerances.

Brownscombe Larder has been awarded 5 stars following our food hygiene inspection on 8th July 2015 – so you can order or buy your food with confidence!

Brownscombe Larder and Lodge

Welcome to the Brownscombe larder, our little onsite honesty shop. We stock a small range of camping essentials, delicious local produce, drinks, picnic snacks and ice creams. Order your food the night before and get the kids to pick up your breakfast in the morning, according to our guests feedback “Kate’s cooking is highly recommended” “absolutely scrummy casserole, breakfast and bbq!” and “the morning croissants are yum!”. Meals that serve 4 adults would also feed 2 adults and 3 children, as they are generous portions. Please advise us of any allergies or if you would like the vegetarian option on ordering.

LARDER MENU (available from 31st March – 31st October);

BEEF POTJIE (pronounced Poike), 2 adults £16.00 or 4 adults £30.00

Potjie is an Afrikaaner campfire dish of beef and chunky vegetable stew traditionally cooked for 4-5 hours in a large cast iron pot. Served with baked potatoes (1 per person, additional potato FOC if feeding family of 5). 

CAMPFIRE CASSOULET, Serves 2 adults £15.00 or 4 adults £24.00

Brownscombe home reared sausages and lardons in a red wine and tomato sauce with cannelloni beans. Accompanied by a warm demi baguette (1 between 2 people) – Can also be made with veggie sausages on request.

BROWNSCOMBE SAUSAGE PASTA, 2 adults £15.00 or 4 adults £24.00

Brownscombe home reared sausage meat, with tomato and penne pasta, topped with shavings of parmesan – total favourite for our kids and their friends. Veggie version available on request.

IRISH STEW 2 adults £16.00 or 4 adults £28.00

Made with local lamb, carrots, potatoes and thyme and simmered for 2 hours until deliciously tender. Accompanied by a warm demi baguette (1 between 2 people).

MEDITERRANEAN LAMB with roasted vegetable couscous 4 – 5 adults £30.00

Local butterflied leg of lamb marinaded for 4 hours in lemon juice, crushed garlic, paprika and oil ready for you to cook for 5-8 minutes each side on your BBQ accompanied with foil cooked squash, onions, peppers and leeks mixed with couscous.

BROWNSCOMBE FAMILY BBQ BASKET, £18.00 for 4 people

Home reared Brownscombe pork; 4 pork & apple burgers, 8 pork sausages, 2 whole corn on the cobs (halved) and 4 warm demi baguettes. Ready to cook on your BBQ.

BROWNSCOMBE BBQ BASKET, £6.00 per person

Home reared sausages (2), a pork and apple burger and a haloumi kebab. Ready to cook on your BBQ.

BROWNSCOMBE VEGGIE BBQ BASKET, £6.00 per person

2 haloumi/pepper/mushroom/onion kebab, 2 veggie sausages and 1 whole corn on the cob. Ready to cook on your BBQ.

CONTINENTAL BREAKFAST

Freshly cooked each morning and ready to collect from the larder from 8am. Just select how many you would like of the following:

  • Demi baguette £1.25 each
  • Croissant £1.25 each
  • Pain au chocolat £1.50 each
  • Demi baguette with two fresh Brownscombe eggs (duck or chicken) £1.75

Our Lodge is available for all guests to use during the day for coffee, tea or hot chocolate and to catch up with free wifi. It is also available to book exclusively for dinner in the evening – it is a great option for larger groups as no one gets stuck with the washing up! We set the table, light the fire and bring you your food;

All Larder menu food is also available in the Lodge (with the exception of the BBQ baskets) for a £5 / head supplement to cover set up, clearing up and the wood for the stove.

Do you have a special occasion to celebrate? You can arrange for Roses (posy of 3 picked from Brownscombe gardens), 750ml bottle of Veuve Cliquot Champagne and Brownscombe fudge to be waiting for you on arrival in your accommodation or in the Lodge for dinner.
